Thomas Traum is a visual art studio that creates work primarily in the areas of rendered motion graphics and 3D illustration. Using light, reflections and the interactions between objects and space Traum creates consuming visuals that are both conceptually intriguing and aesthetically incredible. Despite having only being started by Thomas Eberwein in 2009, as well as dividing half of their time between commercial and art projects, the studio has already worked with an impressive amount of major companies such as Kenzo, Biennale Way, Mercedes Benz, Red Bull Music Academy, Warp Records and Playstation.
Working under the mantra 'New images for a new world using new tools for new machines', it's pretty safe to say that Traum's work is forward thinking. However, one thing that really stood out to us about the studio, is just how aware they are of the huge level of image consumption in our time, and how much their work reflects that. It's so clear, clean and refined, as if to not just add to the clutter of everything else. One of their latest projects Texture, showcases this awareness as a red laser beam piercing through 'endless landscape of images harvested from the internet' so that the 'images form a reflection of what images are posted and consumed online.' On the studio's blog R.A.M, Traum say that they're working on a real-time version of the piece which we can not wait to see.
