SELECTION - Marlene Marino

Marlene Marino knows how to take a woman’s photo. The Cuban American photographer is known for her natural, intimate portraits. Often nude, her images are neither exploitative nor hypersexualised, something that often happens with photographers of either sex. Instead, the woman's body isn't really the true focus. Shot in natural light her photos evoke summer days, siestas and sweaty nights and at the core of all her work is the exploration of femininity, from photos of women reading alone, to lounging with friends or getting dressed, her work captures sisterhood, friendship and the intimacy of female companionship.
Working with Purple and Dazed & Confused among others, Marino brings her naturalistic approach to fashion editorials and has also expanded into the world of film.
