We’ve been 'repping' the emotional lifestyle for a while now, so when we found out about Leanified, a new photo editing app that has preloaded pics of dolphins and Arizona to make your pics more wavvy, we were pumped. With the great tagline ‘Make photos more emotional with @leanified’, the app, created by Adrian Herrara and David de Jesus from LA was made by sadboys for sadboys and sadgirls.
The idea for the app came, like all great ideas, while listening to Yung Lean. Then Adrian took to twitter to test the marketplace 'I wrote a tweet asking if people would use an app to “Leanify” their photos. I got around 10 favorites pretty fast which was surprising for me, so I told David we should build it. He wasn’t really feeling it so he gave me the impossible challenge of getting 100 favorites in the next 24 hours. I have never had a post get to a 100 favorites before, that tweet ended up reaching 177 favorites and over 100 retweets. And that’s how Leanified began.’
Before the app launched, there was a quick change of logo from a cup of lean to a bucket hat. After Asap Yam’s death last month which was widely speculated to have been caused by lean, the boys decided to change it. ‘We thought it was the right thing to do after his death. It was never our goal to promote lean or codeine, for the fans it’s just another symbol of their movement. We thought people would take the logo the wrong way so we decided to ask the fans what they thought. The vast majority agreed with our decision to change it, so we did.’ It’s cool that the decision came from a genuine concern for promoting drugs instead of some drip down orders from some suit trying not to get sued.
