♡ GIRLS ♡
Dani Germade is a 14 year old photographer shooting film photos using a variety of cameras found either in markets or gifted to her. She started shooting on film just last year and of it says 'it can be a bit of a gamble because quite often the film can be messed up or they won't come out like you wanted, but I feel like shooting with film can make much more interesting pictures (and it's also more fun).'
Germade started the project entitled ♡GIRLS♡ a few months ago which concentrates on shooting girls her age in an attempt to 'capture them in a more intimate/ fourteen-year-old-ish way'. Germade's photos do just that. For an age when (to quote Lost in Translation) 'every girl goes through a photography phase. You know, horses... taking dumb pictures of your feet' Germade's photography is at an incredibly high level. But, disregarding her age completely, the photos themselves stand alone as a realistic depiction of young teen years that, for me at least, bring back some awkward memories.
Luckily for us, ♡GIRLS♡ is an ongoing project, 'the girls I take pictures of and the age of people I take pictures will change as I do. It'll probably be interesting to look at the pictures in a few years and see how the people around me change...' Keep up to date with Germade's work , follow the project's progression and relive the angst here.
